The Confluence – Digital Interactives & AV Media

We designed and developed digital interactive AV experiences for The Confluence (Fort Calgary) in collaboration with a diverse project team from different areas of the country. It was a pleasure working (and in consultation) with indigenous animation/media talent  for the new Blackfoot Gallery (Blackfoot storytelling) and the entrance media (timeline animations), capturing the curator’s vision for the exhibit.

Intuitive digital interactives were designed by Ambient to compliment the exhibit design, and developed to allow visitors to toggle between languages (Blackfoot and English) for the videos. For the Blackfoot AV videos/media we provided post-production including editing, title design, captioning, and rendering for media playback along with software development and media integration.

The Timeline (entrance) exhibit consists of 7 displays, each serving as a metaphorical timeline featuring illustrated animation telling the story of this historic location at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers. The timeline goes from ice age glaciers that shaped the land, to first nations history in the area, to the introduction of European traders and settlers, through the arrival of the NWMP and Fort, the railway, and current times as a multicultural storytelling destination that shares rich perspectives and stories of the land and people.

Ambient provided the AV for the newly opened exhibit. We also configured and integrated the media for the interactives and playback hardware.
